Blog 21: Mentorship

Literal:

Raquel Viramontes, 3236330461. Baldwin Park High School.

Interpretive:

The most important thing I gained from this experience was learning how to deal with real life coaching problems, I was put in a situation where I had to make executive decisions with a real life team and that really showed me how hard it is to be a coach and when it's appropriate to make certain decisions.

Applied:

My mentorship has helped me form real connections between my research and reality. I've applied to philosophies I've learned from my research, to real life coaching situations. My EQ focuses on transitioning to adulthood, and coaching a JV team has allowed me to see players grow and transition to much more mature players.

Blog 11: Mentorship 10 Hours

1. I am doing my mentorship at Baldwin Park High School.

2. My contact is Raquel Viramontes.

3. So far I have completed 20 mentorship hours.

4. The 10 hours I most recently completed were very similar to the first 10 hours I completed. They involved simply assisting the coach during their practices.

5. I emailed Piggot my contact's name and number.

2. Raquel Viramontes 1 (323) 633-0461

3. Do you have to take a special class to coach an athletic team?
Are there any school requirements necessary before applying to the job?

4. The most important thing I gained from my 10 hours of mentorship was learning how to guide others in a structured manner.

5. My mentorship didn't help me necessarily choose my topic, because I had already decided my senior project topic before I started the mentorship. So if anything, these 10 hours only confirmed what I plan to do.
